Happy Birthday Little Bro!!!

I know, it's been while since I posted... but I came across this pic of my little bro, who I love so much, from a little over 10 years ago & it's his 17th birthday! Happy Birthday Jay!!!

I had thrown this castle together for him one night so that he could play with his action figures in it & he loved it. I just got a comment posted from my coworker/buddy from LEGOLAND, Jorge's family in Argentina (I've posted pics of him from time to time) & it reminded me how great family is and how much I love my family and love this blog.

Things have been so busy for me and the team lately. Maybe you've heard about the LEGOLAND Discovery Centers that are opening up... if not, there is going to be one open this summer in Chicago. I have been working with the best team ever putting all the pieces together for the Miniland room. We are making a miniature city of Chicago all out of LEGO!

I will certainly try to add some pics and updates soon, but so much has changed in my life and my job (which I still love, too!) that it is almost like a different person used to be working on this blog. Maybe, just like with family, you can spend a good deal of time apart, but you can always go back home.

& maybe it's time for you to visit Argentina again, too, Jorge! I think they miss you :)

Las Vegas Blvd is here in Carlsbad, California... yippee!

The Other Brick Stars

Not his most challenging or interesting work, but a key piece in a magnificent tower that Bill built... This piece fits into the space where the different roof pieces meet. He has done quite a few projects with us recently... and did the artwork for the press conference as well... fantastic!

Team Girl's Tropicana Tower made its debut in the press conference - work it girl! She looked so pretty on the red carpet...

Day 2 of 4 Tens

Made it thru
day 2
of four 10's.

Finding it difficult
to jump back & forth
thru artistic & mathmatic
sides of brain.

Two more days of the same.

I swear, we are building really cool things right now. I am just sworn to secrecy... so no pics, just poems (ok maybe no more of those either). You can get clues by visiting the Model Shop window...

New Look, and a Job That Doesn't Stink!

When I first got started in my artistic career, I was trained by 3 very brilliant designers in silk flower arrangements and shop display/decor. It was a pretty excellent job in a really amazing place. I learned so much about color and composition as well as a trade that inspired me to eventually start my own business doing weddings and flowers in Los Angeles. I remember one lesson in particular about doing very simple all white display after the December holidays. I was told that white was calming and clean after dealing with the clutter of the over-the-top christmas displays for a month and a half.

So... I decided to use that philosophy on Brick Star, too. I just ditched the old blog template in favor of this nice, simple, white page. This is the beginning of a new time for me! On monday, I will have the pleasure of starting a new workweek... an opportunity that few people can say they have in the business world... I will be working FOUR TENS! That's right, under California Law, if the team is in agreement, they can vote to work 4 ten hour days (without overtime) and have THREE DAYS OFF/WEEK! What's a couple more hours a day when you're paid to play?

I will be enjoying 3 day weekends from now on. Yipeeee!

Can it get any better than this? I suppose so, if we could vote on the salary we would like... but for now, I have nuthin' to complain about!
