A Blizzard of Guests

We may be in beautiful SoCal, but there is a Blizzard going on here! I heard it was a busy day with guests, too! It is a great time to go to a theme park with your family. I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park with my family, 2 days ago and we had such a great time! I convinced my mom that there was going to be fireworks and the animals were used to it. ;)

They had some cute activities for the kiddies, but I must say that our events are a little bit nicer... We have our Blizzard Build Event where the guests can build their own snowflake out of really pretty LEGO Bricks. The snowflakes get placed on the trees in our Enchanted Walk for all to see. I am impressed! There are some really pretty snowflakes out there this year!

Plus, we will be having fireworks this year, because our animals are used to it!

More Holiday Fun at LL

It was a busy day today at LL. I had the last 2 days off, but I was back at work today just in time to help fix the mess that yesterday's heavy winds had made. Our storage tent tried to make a trip to Oz but it was grounded by my colleauges before it left property.

Lucky for us, we have some really great builders helping us continue building for our project while the rest of us "hold down the fort" when things get crazy.

Mom's Christmas Castle

I may have mentioned that my mom is a big fan of the bricks, too... She has collected tons of rare pieces and build a lot of cute vignettes! This is a great time to post one of my favorite scenes, her Christmas Castle, with trans-lite-blue snowflakes and all kinds of cute minifigs and models.

Holiday Block Party

Holday Block Party began today at LL. They have all sorts of cool things going on for each day... including my personal favorite event called the BLIZZARD BUILD. This is where guests get to build their own snowflakes for trees on our our "Enchanted Christmas Walk" - a little something I got to decorate with my team. I got to order all the LEGO pieces for the Blizzard Build event, too and there is some really special stuff there. You can make something really cool and it could be on display in our "Tree Gallery"... thru New Years!

December 21 - 30, 2006

Come build Holiday memories during our 8th annual Holiday Block Party - December 21 through 30. The Park will be decked out with twinklin' lights, jolly music and a 30-foot LEGO Christmas tree. Also, enjoy our nightly fireworks spectacular at Park closing time from December 26 through 30.

There's even a life-sized Santa and reindeer built entirely from LEGO - perfect for that one-of-a-kind holiday photo. And that's just the beginning. We'll have special entertainment and our stores are full of great gift ideas.

Let the Holidays Begin!

Today is the first day of my holiday... yay! Its my wonderful man's birthday so "Happy Birthday to Dream!" I am looking forward to a family Holiday Celebration at my parents place on Monday... family, food and a LEGO train around the Tree. Let the festivities begin!

I volunteered to work Christmas. I'm used to it from being in the flower biz - everyone wants flowers as a last minute, so we always worked. I'll be in or around the Model Shop for most of the 25th. I know I'm a dork, but I am exited to be the only one there because as the only one there, I am required to do the Miniland Repair Duty and I haven't done that since summer... I love Miniland... I love when it looks good and it only looks good with lots of love. Miniland and I are perfect together and I get my Zen.

Waiting for the Tree to Light Up...

I'm just waiting here right now... all by myself in the Model Shop. They are doing the annual tree lighting party here in about 1/2 hour with Brooke Shields and I am starved for a celebrity sighting (its been 3 years since I lived in Hollywood where I could name drop on a weekly basis) so I decided to stick around for a little while after work. OK, I'm a little starstruck, so? It brings joy into my life, just like the little plastic bricks do and I guess to some, that's wierd too, so what can I say...

Anyway, I thought I'd scrounge up some more of last years Miniland Christmas Pictures for you while I wait... we are not done yet with this years Christmas in Miniland mostly due to the fact that we are waiting for a day when the park is closed (tomorrow) to put it all out. The stuff is soooooooo cute!!! I didn't make all the stuff, but I did build the girl hailing a cab in NYC. If I could just build little things like that every day, THEN I would be paid to play because that is truly the most fun ever. I laugh so hard to myself that tears start welling up in my eyes.

Well, I'm off to see our celeb! I'll let you know how it goes!

Kristi Does Christmas!

- with a little help from my friends - thanks guys! Luv you!

So I just spent the last 2 days working on getting all the decor into a little area we call the Enchanted Walk here at LEGOLAND. It is basically a little nature walk next to our golf course and also the same place we decorate for Halloween. I decorated it last year, too, so these pics are from last year, but I thought I'd put up some pics of things that won't be going out there this year.
(I try to mix it up a little).

Last year we had a girl stand under the mistletoe and the elf boy hiding from her... this year we have the boy standing under and it looks great cuz she has a deranged look on her face (girls can get a little nuts when we're in love ;)

Cute little woodland creatures around a christmas tree, last year... this year we worked way too efficiently and actually installed all the wooland creatures permanently into the landscape, so this will not be out this year.

...which means I will have to find someone else to help me decorate the tree.

Tree Lighting with Brooke Shields

Our tree lighting is going to take place on Monday, November 27 at 5pm with Brooke Shields as our celebrity guest. We just finished putting up the giant 30ft tall LEGO Xmas tree with a brand new star this year (the star is going to light up, too!)

Brooke Shields may have some stories to tell when she arrives for Monday's tree-lighting ceremony at Legoland California in Carlsbad. The actress/model was among the chosen few invited to the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes wedding at a castle in Italy. The 30-foot tree, as one might guess, is constructed entirely of Legos – more than 245,000 Lego bricks, along with 240 Lego ornaments and 100 Lego candles.
