DUPLO Jake's Pirate Ship Bucky - 20% Off

20% off, DUPLO LEGO 10514 Jakes Pirate Ship Bucky right now on Amazon!

Only $31.99 (Reg. $39.99)

This is a great set for a Jake or DUPLO fan. We have one and we love it! I almost want one NIB for my collection, but we are LEGO poor right now after going crazy buying Simpson houses and LEGO Movie sets... doh!

DUPLO Waterfall Jungle Tunnel

This might be the perfect day to play with our LEGO DUPLO jungle tunnel.

You can see all the Cars waiting to drive through the tunnel on the right and note he used LEGO inside his DUPLO structure.

He was once a LEGO Master Model Builder...

He is very good at building cool things that are made well, too. Check out his awesome inter-locking skills... crunch crunch.

His tunnel has a waterfall on top.

He used some fencing to make it feel more like a racetrack.

There are lots of printed bricks hidden on this tunnel.

My favorite piece is the rubbery vines. We only had one, but Grammy had 2 more. Yes, Grammy has quite a LEGO and DUPLO collection, too. She gave most of her excess DUPLO to us and just kept her favorite pieces.

I like how the roads from my childhood LEGO are back in the mix.

That is my rug cleaning robot in the background. I use a robot so I can clean less and play more! If only it would put itself away... Oh well, at least my rug is clean!

The little guy LOVES this setup!

He hasn't played with the DUPLO too much, but he loves the racetrack.

We love DUPLO!

We are getting ready for the big race!

Knock knock!

Best DUPLO Sets for Christmas 2013

LEGO 10514 Jakes Pirate Ship Bucky on Amazon

The current 2013 DUPLO themes are Disney Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Disney Pixar Planes, Disney Princesses, and a bunch of other creative sets with animals, vehicles and buildings. So whats the best DUPLO set to get for Christmas?

The toddlers can test their building and design skills on any DUPLO sets, but the Disney and Disney Pixar sets make great gifts.

These sets go in and out of production, so you will always score your best deals on a current set. However, you can find older sets like Thomas the Train and the older Disney Pixar Cars sets on Amazon and eBay.

You can see the current line of  DUPLO at LEGO.com.

Amazon may have some better deals and free shipping, but some of the prices on DUPLO sets are inflated, so I encourage you to check both sites before you buy. If you go with LEGO.com, make sure you sign up for VIP points and collect your points at checkout. You may be entitled to a future discount!

LEGO 10513 Never Land Hideout

Although you cannot go wrong with Jake's Pirate Ship set (above), there are 2 other sets in the Jake line that are cute and contain cute characters, special pieces and printed bricks.

LEGO 10512 Jakes Treasure Hunt

LEGO Disney Planes Skipper's Flight School

Disney Pixar Planes is another awesome theme that you can buy 1 set or all three as the perfect toddler gift! I'm also a fan of buying some for myself and keeping them new in the box for future investment. Have you seen how much retired sets go for on eBay? Especially valuable are the the character themes like Disney/Pixar!

LEGO DUPLO Princess Ariel Undersea Castle 10515 on Amazon

Of course the Disney princess sets are adorable and a must have for any little Disney fan! There are also other princess sets that can go along with this one and the more DUPLO you have, the more you can build!

DUPLO Deluxe Train Set at LEGO.com

This is the train set that you want to get this season for your little one. My best advice is to buy from LEGO.com because it seems that the price is ridiculously inflated on Amazon.

The coolest thing about this set is the raised bridge. Althought we already have train tracks and trains, we do not have a raised bridge. Therefore, if we can get our hands on this set at LEGOLAND, we will be buying it there. If not, I may just try to buy the raised bridge alone on the secondary market.

The second coolest thing is that the engine makes motor sounds. Anything with light and sound, I believe, enhances the experience.

So stay away from the cheap and cheesy Mega Bloks and buy some beautiful, quality LEGO DUPLO this season.

DUPLO Planes Party and Play Sign

Here is the sign I made for our DUPLO Planes party, this week. I think I'm going to hang it with colorful binder clips or clothespins.

These were so easy to make with regular LEGO Baseplates and some DUPLO brick.

DUPLO Jake and Planes House Party Box Arrived!

Doorbell! Ding Dong! What is it? It's a big brown box. Your party pack has arrived!

I stand next to my box and say cheeeeeese!

Is there treasure inside this box? Why yes, there is. It's the DUPLO So Many Ways to Play House Party we are having next week!

This is going to be fuuuun!!!!

A Tall Tall Tower of Flower Power

I came into the playroom and found this amazingly high tower of DUPLO flowers. I was a little puzzled because it was much taller than my toddler. I asked him to show me how he did it. He pulled it down, gently, added another flower to the top then placed it back on his train tunnel very carefully. WOW!

BIG News - We are Doing a DUPLO House Party!!!

I just found out this morning that we were selected to host a DUPLO So Many Ways to Play House Party with Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Disney Planes theme! We are super excited!

I had no idea you would only have 30 minutes (ticking clock and everything) to set up and email your invite to 10 friends. I'll have to admit, it was a little stressful since we had never done this before, but since we were able to grab all our friends emails from their facebook pages, it was easily done, with 3 minutes to spare. Ok, so it took me a little while to figure out what the heck I was agreeing to...

I immediately set up a facebook event with the same folks invited and a few more because I think people just like that. I like that. It makes it easy to see who is coming, get back to the page when you need info, have a social conversation about everything from RSVP to what to bring.

We are so excited! You know how we love DUPLO, and I've been wanting this Jake set for a while for the little guy, so I think we are going to open this one to play with at the party...

Now, for the juicy details...

Here is what we get for hosting (we will be giving some of the sets away for door prizes and some we will open and play with!):

New DUPLO Double Train Tunnel With Waterfall

We rebuilt the DUPLO train tunnel last night...

put a better door in...

Made a hill with a waterfall and some rockwork...

We pretty much used all of the bricks we had in greens, greys, blues and browns!

Putting the flowers on was so much fun!

I had a lot of help from the fam!
