Chicago - Sneak Peak...

Here's a little peak of what you can see in Miniland Chicago... I am finally going home now that all the models are installed and the final touches were made on the display. Thanks a million to the Chicago Building and Installation Teams! You guys are amazing - this miniature LEGO city came out sooo beautiful, it is our very first start to finish Mini City made entirely in our Model Shop, it is like my baby, the team is like my family and I AM A PROUD MOMMA!

We spent the last 5 weeks installing everything. I just spent the last 4 hours taking pictures while Larry tweaked the programming effects. More pics to come this week, leading up to the opening day & then this blog is blowing up with pictures!!!

Minifigs Move In - Vermin, Too!

Minifigs have moved into the miniature city of Chicago. We made about 1000 people to populate our display, but anyone who knows us knows that people aren't the only one's living in this land... beware the creatures as well!

This really is the most fun I've had in weeks... thanks, Nik, for packing us such a great goodie bag of everything from circular saws to snakes - sorry Mini Chicago for all the trouble these things have stirred up ;)

Discovery Centre Giraffe Breaks Through Building

LEGO install crew hired a large crane to place the enormous Giraffe model outside of the building.

We are almost done with our part of the display as well. Things are looking really good. Half our team is heading home tomorrow... but myself and 2 others stay on for a few more days. I really can't wait to post some pics - I'm planning on doing so on opening day, which I believe is going to be July 31st, but it may be sooner, so keep checking!

A Place to Chill...

So we are still spending our days creating our version of Chicago in Miniature at the Discovery Centre... I think I just about got the El Train tracks lined up and ready to be locked down, as my crew is wiring streetlights into our grid. Public transportation is going to be a piece of cake in our mini-city, since we extended the route for the children's enjoyment...

This is a great pic of a rooftop patio in our little apartment building - what a great place for a minifig to chill & a great place for me to live right now in my imagination...

Mini Chicago... Finally

Shrink me down and move me to Mini-Chicago at the Legoland Discovery Centre in Illinois! I'm here on install, now, seeing the fruits of our labor finally come to life in our miniature Chicago display. I am taking progress pictures and everything, but I'm gonna wait until they open to reveal. I'm not going to spoil it, and I'm going to make sure that you will have to go there to see all the cool models and details for yourself - I will say that some of these buildings are some of the best we have ever made & we are already planning another great city to follow.
