I wanted to post a few pics of our new ride "Captain Cranky's Challenge". It's a really great new ride and the models look right at home in their new camp. The Captain Cranky model is a big accomplishment for us because it's probably the most animated life-sized model that we have ever built in-house! We had one of our amazing designers, Bill Volbrecht and one of our super-skilled animators, Chris Dearmen meet in the middle and work together to get this model to actually crank the gears of this ride!
I must snap some pics of some of the new model scenes they put out there in Treasure Falls and Gary's first LL sculpture, Stu Spewin' (the seasick pirate), because they did an exceptional job.
I am working on planning again... as usual, many tricks up my sleeve, but my treasure is buried - no digging, matey!
I guess there is a pattern here... things get a little quiet on Brick Star when there is repair, maintenance and planning on my agenda. I'm stoked to get some time to focus on Miniland to get all the little details ready for the summer crowds.
They call Miniland "the Heart of LEGOLAND" and we're not missing a beat these days, but sometimes getting all the roads patched and painted, evicting all the faded and broken Mini-people (sorry guys - maybe there's room for you in the Factory Tour) and replacing all the taxi's and traffic in Mini-NYC isn't so exciting to write about... but it looks so good!!!
